Despite my Armenian origins, I only came to Armenia for the first time at the age of 25 years old. I had little knowledge about the ancient country of my ancestors and I visited it in 2013, in combination with a trip to Georgia, where I was born and where some of my relatives still live. I managed to steal away a few days for travel in Armenia and a relative of mine who had a car and lived in Tbillisi offered to drive me around the country. Though I was frustrated with the pace of travel, with the day starting with endless coffees and cigarretes eventually we got to see some of the most remarkable sights in the country, and I rediscovered my roots.
