An online journalism seminar is taking place in Odessa’s Bavarian House (60 Uspenska Street) from November 11 to 13, 10am to 6.30pm. The seminar will be led by Steffen Dobbert, an eminent journalist from Berlin, who write for Zeit Online, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Spiegel Online and other publications well-known in Germany and beyond its borders. His favored topics include sports, politics, economics and society.
The three-day workshop will cover a variety of question, including: How do professional online-journalists work in Germany in these and other genres? What are the unique aspects of modern German journalism? How to choose topics? What kind of texts are most in demand in Europe today?
For these three days in November, a group of 8 to 12 volunteers will be transformed into a typical editorial office of a modern European magazine and will spotlight the life of our city in the framework of a topic chosen by the group. Participants are required to love writing, to bring a laptop, and preferably to speak German. At the conclusion of the workshop, the best pieces will be published in The Odessa Review in English and German languages.
